It is apparent that the Health Care Act has the attention of many Americans. In the past two years alone the Consumer Health Advocacy Group Families USA found that 86.7 million Americans were uninsured at one point during that span (2007-2008). President Obama has it made it clear that passing the Health Care Act is one of his top priorities as president. As president Obama promised the House of Representatives passed the Health Care Bill by a vote of 220-215. It is being estimated that the proposal would reduce the federal deficit by $127 billion over the next 10 years and by more than $600 billion in the next decade. However, the next step for the bill is to pass through the senate.
Passing the Health Care Act would be a huge step for America. As of now the United States remains the only industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system. If the health care bill passes not only will it save us money but it would also increase the health of many Americans that can’t afford to pay for medical attention. Overall, I believe that this bill should get passed because there are too many Americans who cannot afford healthcare, and because we are one of the few countries who have not caught on with the other countries that are providing healthcare to their residents.
